Salvage poster

DescriptionA salvage poster depicting three cartoon figures of women carrying rifles, a barrage balloon and a warship. Campaigns for salvage ran throughout the war, but Fougasse was specifically noted as working on a number of salvage campaigns in 1942. Many salvage campaigns focused on the factories, but Fougasse focused his campaigns particularly on the housewives. In this piece we can see an appeal to pubs and even girls' schools as well as the average household. There were specific salvage drives in many areas, on both national and local levels, with supporting campaigns continued afterwards.
